Overhead conditions were favourable today for the Rose Bowl Final at Kilmacolm between Gillian McGinlay (Cochrane Castle) and Nancy MacGadie (Ranfurly Castle). After a closely fought start Gillian edged away with steady play and finally won on the 15th green. Congratulations to Gillian, commiserations to Nancy and well done to you both for reaching the Final.

Gillian won the Rose Bowl in 2000, 2004 and 2006.

Message from Eilidh - it was Megan that had the most points !!

It was Megan who had 5 1/2 points out of 6.
I had 5 out of 6 I think someone has mixed up the Briggs sisters.
Megan is still getting over people at Inchmarlo thinking she was the younger sister.

Well she is so small !!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info Eilidh --- and Well done to you both  -- Brilliant for Renfrewshire

Well done to the Renfrewshire Team

Congratulations to our Team on winning the F.J. Morison Trophy awarded to the runners-up at the Scottish County Finals.

The Team played with their heart and soul and all contributed to our points total. It was a tense finish as we waited for the result between Perth & Kinross and Fife knowing there was a possibility our name could be on The Shield. Our congratulations go to the Fife County Team on becoming the Scottish County Champions. Well deserved.

Special mention must go to Donna who celebrated 25 years of success and service to our Team. Donna, here's to the next 25!

Well done to Alyson on her winning debut. We have no doubt this will be the first of many.

Thanks to everyone who sent us good wishes before we set off to do battle and our grateful thanks to caddies and supporters who travelled far and gave of their valueable time. You do make a difference and we couldn't have done it without you.

Here's to next year! Well done girls!

Eilidh's dash down south to play in the school's Internationals

Renfrewshire's teenager Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) was so determined to play for Scotland in Monday's annual schools golf international against England at Royal Lytham & St Anne's Golf Club, that her Dad whisked her last night from Aberdeenshire to the Lancashire venue - a drive of some six hours.
Eilidh, a 15-year-old pupil at Gryffe High School, Johnstone, played for Renfrewshire in the Scottish women's county championship finals at the Inchmarlo Golf Resort, Banchory from Friday until the three-day programme ended in the early evening today.
Then the Briggs - Eilidh's older sister Megan, a Scotland cap - was also playing for Renfrewshire, set off for Royal Lytham & St Annes.
+ Megan Briggs was the joint MVP in the County Finals  with 51/2pt out of 6 and sister Eilidh Briggs was the second  MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the county finals with 5 pt out of 6
Megan matched  Fiona Hastie's points total for title-winners Fife

FIFE ARE SCOTTISH COUNTY GOLF CHAMPIONS

Fife survived a last-day wobble to win the Scottish women’s county golf championship at Inchmarlo Golf Resort, Banchory today.
Fife completed the three-day programme with three match wins out of three, clinching the title by beating Perth & Kinross 5-4 after earlier wins by 7-2 over Borders and 6-3 against Renfrewshire.
Perth & Kinross looked as though they might upset the Fife flow towards the title when they took the foursomes 2-1 but wins in the singles by Louise Kenney, Fiona Hastie, Elaine Moffat and Lorna Bennett took Fife over the winning line.
Renfrewshire, who beat Borders 7-2 in their final match, finished runners-up.
Fife last won the title at The Hirsel in 2006 and before that at Prestonfield in 1995 and Dumfries & County Golf Club in 1975.

Renfrewshire win on Day 1 against Perth and Kinross

Tomorrow's Day 2 Renfrewshire v Fife match will go a long way towards deciding which team will be awarded the Scottish women's county team championship trophy at the end of the tournament at Inchmarlo Golf Resort, Banchory on Sunday.
Renfrewshire beat Perth & Kinross 7-2 and Fife overcame Borders by the same score in the opening matches today.
Renfrewshire took a grip on the outcome of their match against P&K by making a 3-0 clean sweep of the foursomes. In the top singles match between two current Scotland internationals, Renfrewshire's Couny Champion Megan Briggs beat Emily Ogilvy by 3 and 2.
Megan's younger sister Eilidh, Donna Jackson and Gillian McGinlay also won to give Renfrewshire 4pt from the singles.
Alex Bushby and Annabel Niven were P&K's only singles winners.
Borders did very well to take the lead-off foursomes from Fife, Judith Anderson and Kirsty Inkpen beating Jocelyn Carthew and Scotland cap Louise Kenney 3 and 2.
But Fife's strength in depth enabled them to recover to establish a 2-1 lead from the foursomes to which they added five wins in the singles through Fiona Hastie, Kenney, Carthew, Susan Jackson and Elaine Moffat.
Liz Campbell got Borders' only singles point.

A very cheery evening was had by everyone tonight at the Fund Raising Bridge Drive at Eastwood Golf Club and amazingly we raised £2,100.
A big thank you goes to all the ladies who came along and supported Renfrewshire so generously. Another big thank you to the committee and the Renfrewshire Team who worked away behind the scenes, donated prizes for the raffle and were out front selling raffle tickets as well as working as waitresses. They certainly helped to make tonight such a success.

The Bridge First Prize was won by Myra Taylor, second prize by our own President Wendy Cameron, and third prize by Marion Reading. As there was no slam bid and made The Captain took a "blind" walk and the prizes were awarded to Immediate Past Secretary, Jane Thomson, and another lady -please let us know your name.

Birgit Clark of Old Ranfurly Golf Club won the Gleneagles Raffle - a round of golf for four with any choice of the three courses. Our thanks go to Cammy Kyle (Gillian Kyle's husband - East Renfrwshire) of Calder Millerfield for this most generous prize.

Cammy, you will be delighted to know your raffle raised £1,144!

The Theatre Tickets were won by Ann Baillie of Whitecraigs Golf Club.

Renfrewshire County is indebted to Eastwood Golf Club for allowing us to host our Bridge Drive in their Club and also to their staff for looking after us so well.
