MAUREEN BEATS THE HEAT AND CAROL TO WIN THROUGH TO THE COUNTY ROSEBOWL FINAL

On the hottest day of the year so far (Friday 25th July) Carol Fell (Ranfurly Castle) and Maureen Taggart (Old Ranfurly) played their tie in the mid day sun to meet Denise Cowan (Ranfurly Castle) in the final of the County Rosebowl.
Carol with home advantage had to give Maureen 5 shots and with a poor start at the 1st 2 holes she was 2 down.
However, she got it back to all square by the turn with a good run of play being produced by both players.
With the temperature rising (30ยบ C) and both players getting slower -  Carol unfortunately lost a ball at the 10th which caused confusion by both players as it was probably her best drive of the day.  Going 1 down Carol hit back with a birdie 4 at the 11th and won the 12th to go 1 up .
A shot given at the 13th resulted in a par 4 to Maureen's 5  and the hole being halved as was the 14th.
Stroke going down the 15th and both with 5 's resulted in the match going back to all square.
By now both players were "really hot". Maureen was the much better player on the closing holes and finished Carol off with a 2&1 win
They then headed back to the clubhouse for a well deserved  refreshment and a late lunch.
From your webmaster -- Thanks Maureen well done --- enjoyed the match, lunch and chat.

The final will take place on a neutral venue with the date to be decided.
