PAST COUNTY MEMBER MOIRA HOGG HAS DIED

Anabel Kane and Moira Hogg 2001 Commonwealth Spoon winners
It is with great sadness that we have to report that Past RLCGA Member Moira Hogg died on Friday, 23rd October 2015.
The Funeral Service, to which all family and friends are respectfully invited, is at Woodside Crematorium, 46 Broomlands Street, Paisley PA1 2NP on Monday, 2nd November at 11am. No flowers. Donations if desired to St Vincent’s Hospice.
The photo above was taken in 2001 when the Old Ranfurly duo of Anabel Kane and Moira Hogg, representing Renfrewshire, beat a field of 60 pairings from 15 counties in Scotland to win the S.L.G.A. Commonwealth Spoons Final at Tulliallan. Despite a handicap of 12 the girls played to 7 scoring a net 67.
Moira was very proud of that win as she was of many of her achievements.
She put a lot into her golfing days and was always enthusiastic and a great participator.
Moira was also involved and proud to be in the 1970 Commonwealth games as a referee.
She will be sadly missed.

WINTER FOURSOMES - GILLIAN AND AUDREY WIN THEIR TIE

Audrey, Gillian, Morag and Thea  - Photo courtesy of Gillian Kyle
Gillian Kyle and Audrey Mackenzie (East Renfrewshire) played Morag Little and Thea Morgan (Whitecraigs ) on Friday 23rd October at Whitecraigs GC.
A real autumn feel to the day with a fresh wind but it remained dry and a very enjoyable morning was had by all.
The East Renfrewshire pair were giving 4 shots to the home players and the match was very tight with Audrey and Gillian requiring back to back birdies at the 6th and 7th to keep it that way-all square after 9.
The Whitecraigs pair found trouble at the tricky 11th then 2 poor tee shots at the 14th and 15th let Audrey and Gillian go 3 up with 3 to play.
Thea holed an excellent 15 foot putt at the 16th to keep the game going but 2 nice shots on to the 17th green from the visitors was enough to win that hole and the match-3 and 1.

RENFREWSHIRE JUNIORS LOSE IN FRIENDLY MATCH AGAINST D&A

L to R:Caitlin McCartney (Caldwell) Gillian Henderson (Whitecraigs)
Niamh Kinney (Erskine) Alison Macnab (Kilmacolm)
Zara Thomson (Williamwood) Amy Morris (Williamwood)

Well done to D&A who were the overall winners. A match which was postponed in June due to heavy rain and strong winds was rescheduled for the 18th October and was played in wonderful conditions on a perfect Autumn day.
A team of 6 players enjoyed the course at Clydebank and District Golf Club. D&A had a last minute call off and fielded a team of 5.
Both teams had 2 beginners who played a 9 hole match. Zara Thomson and Amy Morris (both Williamwood GC) played very well and enjoyed their debut!
Zara's match was very close and she was unlucky to lose on the 9th green. Amy also had a very close match and lost 3/2 .
A good experience for the young girls and it was great to see lots of good golf. Our more experienced players played 18 holes.
Niamh Kinney played a great round of golf and although down throughout the match continually fought back to unfortunately loose on the 18th.
Alison Macnab had a great game with terrific shots and won 5/3. Due to D&A being 1 player short, Gillian Henderson and Cailtin McCartney (also making her debut) played the same opponent but for 9 holes each! Gillian narrowly lost on the front 9 but Caitlin won the back 9. The match was played in great spirit and the girls all enjoyed the day.
Thanks go to Jenny Todd (D&A Junior Secretary) for arranging the match and the Clydebank and District Golf Club for courtesy of their course.

Thanks to Audrey MacKenzie for the report and photograph
