PICKLEBALL INSTEAD OF GOLF !!

From L to R - Jinty, Morag, Anita, Morag, Jennifer, Gillian, Marion, Sandra and Julie
Some of the RLCGA members have taken up the "extreme" sport of "pickleball"
They play on a Tuesday and Thursday at the Paisley Lagoon Centre.
It takes place on a badminton court with a 3ft net and you use a paddle instead of a racket and a plastic ball.
It gets very competitive but is played in good spirits and is great fun.
I say "extreme" sport as we have at least one injury per session!!!
It was Jinty's turn today to pull a muscle in her calf sprinting for the ball.
It will keep us fit and busy over the winter.

Thanks go to Past Captain Gillian McGinlay for the photograph and the news.

WINTER FOURSOMES TIE PLAYED IN A WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY !!

Audrey Mackenzie and Gillian Kyle (East Renfrewshire) seized a tiny window of decent weather on Tuesday December 8th to play against Carol McNally and Gill Unick. (Williamwood) at East Renfrewshire GC .
The ground conditions were fairly wet so playing off the mats or moving to the semi rough was actually beneficial. It remained dry overhead although the rain wasn’t far away with the increasingly strong winds.
Not many strokes needed to be given to the visitors who took an early lead. Gillian and Audrey squared the match at the 6th and with Carol and Gill finding trouble at the 7th, 9th and 11th, they increased their lead with steady golf and eventually won on the 15th.
All enjoyed the good chat and to be outdoors in the fresh air actually playing golf !

BEETLE DRIVE AT RALSTON GOLF CLUB

BEETLE DRIVE
SUNDAY 7TH FEBRUARY 2016
AT RALSTON GOLF CLUB.
Meet at 1.30 to start the games at 2pm.
Cost £5/person, which includes tea/coffee and a cupcake.

Please join us for an afternoon of fun and catch up with Renfrewshire golfing friends at the Beetle Drive.

Carol McNally (our new Secretary) shall be displaying her handbags and scarves, Val Lawrence, her Stella and Dot jewellery and Doreen Mainds will be selling her delicious tablet. They will kindly give the County a percentage of their takings from the day.

Raffle tickets shall be on sale and any raffle prizes will be gratefully received on the day. There will also be silent auctions for a 4xball at Gleneagles (any course, valid for 2016) and a 4xball at Dunaverty Golf Club. Maybe arrange your 4 in advance to plan your bid? These have been kindly donated so it would be great to get a good sum of money for them.

It is hoped that this will be the main fundraiser of 2016 so let’s make it worthwhile!

Please let us know if you’d like to attend by contacting Gillian Kyle at gilliank17@sky.com or telephoning 0141 639 2927.
