Booking Advice

The person entering the Foursomes team on the tee sheet should enter their name as the first player and their partners name second. Doing it the other way round will submit the booking with only one team member. Should this happen then your partner will need to access the tee-sheet and highlight their name and select 'cancel'. Commence the booking again using the aforesaid order of players.

If you have already entered the Foursomes or Spring Meeting competitions and you wish to change partners, cancel all together or move zones prior to the close of booking, then highlight your name(s) on the tee sheet and select cancel and start the booking process again, if you wish to move zone/change partners.

Any problems booking on prior to the closing date, contact the Results Secretary, Fiona Armour, email Fiona 07719 345322, who will be able to assist.RLCGA Committeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09145175394098451467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17757074.post-67175333111647577902018-04-04T22:41:00.003+01:002018-04-13T14:55:31.622+01:00 EILIDH WINS WHITTINGTON TROPHY BY 3 SHOTS EILIDH WINS WHITTINGTON TROPHY BY 3 SHOTS
However the East Renfrewshire pair were using their shots wisely and were only 1 down at the turn. After halving holes 10 and 11, Alyson and Carol then surged ahead and the match finished on the 16thafter Carol’s Houdini-like approach shot. Although worthy winners by 3 & 2, Linda and Elizabeth should feel very pleased with their performance, especially in such testing conditions.

Scottish Golf Chair Eleanor Cannon has today (Saturday 10 March) expressed her “deep disappointment” after the membership voted against a proposal to increase the annual affiliation fee paid by members for the first time in five years.

At the governing body’s Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh, members voted narrowly to reject the investment proposals, leaving Scottish Golf to reduce its spending accordingly.

Eleanor Cannon said: “We are deeply disappointed that we will be making more cuts at a time when we should be growing the game not just to make clubs more sustainable, but to hand the game over to our children and their children in a much better state than we found it after 10 to 15 years of decline.

RLCGA Past Captain Gillian Kyle was delighted to receive Honorary Membership at the 95th AGM as East Renfrewshire GC has been a very big part of her life for around 40 years. The challenging course helped improve her golf over the years and she is very proud to represent the club in all the teams and competitions that she has played in at Club, County, National and at International level.

Her Dad (Jack Inglis) started her off in the game and still takes a great interest today. Her initial aim was to win the Club Championship once, but gradually started targeting the records of the ladies who had won it multiple times (Brenda Livingston, Jenny Addison and of course Ann Prentice to name but a few). Never did she really expect to achieve this as each final was a well contested match. She gained confidence from each win which helped when playing in other competitions.

Lowering her handicap (presently 2.2) enabled selection for the Renfrewshire County team which lead to a higher level of competition. Turning 50 opened even more doors and the International events have been another experience that she could only have dreamt of. It’s a short career though and as Gillian says "there is always a young 49 year old waiting in the wings to steal a place on the team".

Gillian thanked her family and all the East Renfrewshire members, especially the Ladies, for their continued support by taking such an interest in her golf at the recent AGM and looks forward to representing East Renfrewshire for a long time to come.

Gillian's Golfing CV

Due to other commitments like homework, athletics and the West Girls golf match at Balmore, there were only 4 girls at the winter coaching last Sunday.

Katie Darroch, Jennifer Lynagh, Orla Rooney and Aaliyah Sandhu had Karyn's undivided attention at the Glasgow Indoor Golf Centre. (The weather can't stop golf there!)

The girls warmed up on the range with Karyn giving them some tips then they split into 2 groups to use the simulator rooms. There was time for them all to hit 5 shots with each club to get an idea of their average and best distances. A very worthwhile exercise which is recommended for all golfers at this time of year.

They have 1 more session at the Indoor before going to Whitecraigs GC on March 18th to play the Par 3 course then Kilmacolm GC on March 25th for a game outdoors-weather permitting! ☃RLCGA Committeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09145175394098451467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17757074.post-78943603726450941062018-02-27T09:00:00.001+00:002018-02-27T09:00:59.304+00:00SCOTTISH WOMENS HALL OF FAME - SCOTTISH GOLF LEGEND WIL BE INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME CarolFell Ladies Golf News : BELLE ROBERTSON IS GOING TO BE AT THE SCOTTISH WO...:

20 February 2018, St Andrews, Scotland and Liberty Corner, N.J., USA:

The way golfers around the world will calculate their handicaps is set to be transformed by a new system developed by The R&A and the USGA, with key features designed to provide all golfers with a consistent measure of playing ability.

The new World Handicap System, to be implemented in 2020, follows an extensive review of systems administered by six existing handicapping authorities: Golf Australia, the Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) in Great Britain and Ireland, the European Golf Association (EGA), the South African Golf Association (SAGA), the Argentine Golf Association (AAG) and the USGA.

The new system will feature the following:

Flexibility in formats of play, allowing both competitive and recreational rounds to count for handicap purposes and ensuring that a golfer’s handicap is more reflective of potential ability

A minimal number of scores needed to obtain a new handicap; a recommendation that the number of scores needed to obtain a new handicap be 54 holes from any combination of 18-hole and 9-hole rounds, but with some discretion available for national or regional associations to set a different minimum within their own jurisdiction

A consistent handicap that is portable from course to course and country to country through worldwide use of the USGA Course and Slope Rating System, already successfully used in more than 80 countries

An average-based calculation of a handicap, taken from the best eight out of the last 20 scores and factoring in memory of demonstrated ability for better responsiveness and control

A calculation that considers the impact that abnormal course and weather conditions might have on a player’s performance each day

Daily handicap revisions, taking account of the course and weather conditions calculation

A limit of Net Double Bogey on the maximum hole score (for handicapping purposes only)

A maximum handicap limit of 54.0, regardless of gender, to encourage more golfers to measure and track their performance to increase their enjoyment of the game
