BEST WISHES FROM CAPTAIN CHRISTEEN

Christeen Finlayson - click to enlarge

Dear All,

It is unbelieveable that a year has passed since my 2008 New Year's message. The past year was certainly an eventful and highly successful year for Renfrewshire County and I am extremely proud of the achievements of individual members and, of course, our County Team. Our aim for 2009 is to improve on our successes of last year.

I hope you have all had a marvellous Christmas with your family and friends and that you enjoy the remainder of the festive season.

I wish you good health, much happiness and excellent golf for the coming year. I also hope that our Centenary Year will be successful and enjoyable for you all. Don't forget we start off our celebrations with our Centenary Dinner on Thursday, 26th February!

Happy New Year!

Christeen

AND FINALLY A LITTLE CHRISTMAS CHEER

The 2009 Scottish Ladies Open will not take place

Lynn Mitchell who organised caddies for last years Ladies Scottish Open has sent in this message:
I can only apologise for the delay in getting this information out to you but I have only recently received an email from Harry confirming that the Ladies Scottish Open will not be taking place next year 2009.
……“Unfortunately the Ladies Scottish Open will not be taking place next year. The majority of our sponsors were keen to sign up again (Aberdeen and EventScotland were committed) but due to the current economic climate we were not able to make up the shortfall left by one of the partners which is a great shame. We will however see how we can maybe resurrect it for 2010 so I will keep in contact with you should the situation change.”

I would appreciate if you could circulate this information as I do not have an email address for everyone.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and Good New Year and very much hope to be back in contact with you all in the not too distant future.

Many thanks
Kind regards
Lynn Mitchell

Training in Portugal -- over the Winter

The LGU has provided Barringtons with the RLCGA Website details.

HERE IS THEIR ADVERT: -----

They have a Golf Academy at Barringtons Vale do Lobo which incorporates covered bays, grass tees, a pitching green with bunker and an 18 hole putting green. They do not own their own golf course but do own a corporate Title at Vale do Lobo Royal course providing access at great green fees and they also have arrangements with the 15 local, mainly championship courses.

Their General Manager, Graham Stewart, is also a PGA pro so they know what is required to make their training camp a huge success.

In recent years several national and county amateur teams have based themselves at Barringtons for their winter training. In addition the following ladies from the LET use Barringtons on a regular basis for training purposes.

Georgina Simpson Elizabeth Esterl (Solheim Cup player)
Sophie Walker Henrietta Zuel
Rebecca Hudson Eleanor Pilgrim

I am sure each is happy to endorse Barringtons as a training venue.
Thanks for your time.
Best wishes
