EILIDH POSTS A 2 UNDER PAR ROUND ON DAY 1 OF THE SCOTTISH LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP AT WEST KILBRIDE

Ayrshire's Connie Jaffrey  (Troon Ladies) leads the field after the first day of stroke play qualifying at the Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship at sun-kissed West Kilbride today

She did not drop a shot during her four under opening round of 69, earning her the sole lead into the second day. 
Renfrewshire County Champion Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) posted an excellent 2 under par round of 71 and losing County Championship finalist - young Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle)  posted a very creditable 4 over par 77.
Unfortunately Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm) did not fair so well today and finished with an 83  

The field will compete over a second round of stroke play tomorrow, before the top-32 qualifiers enter the matchplay stage from Thursday. The 18-hole final is played at West Kilbride from 8.30am on Saturday morning.

EILIDH IS TIED 3RD IN THE ST RULE TROPHY IN ST ANDREWS

Renfrewshire's Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) and local girl Lauren Whyte (Regulus) tied for third place on 216 in the St Rule Trophy yesterday - three behind the winner France's 15 year old Pauline Roussin-Bouchard and two adrift of the runner-up.
Eilidh, who missed most of last season with injury, shot 74, 68 and 74, while Lauren, a student at Baylor University, Texas, reeled off three 72s in her best performance at this high level for a year or two.

EILIDH IN 3RD PLACE AFTER 2 ROUNDS AT THE ST RULE TROPHY

Renfrewshire County Champion and  2014 Curtis Cup player Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) had rounds of 74 and 68 (in the two row round today of the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews (New Course) today -- She is lying in joint 3rd.

We are still looking for some more ladies to caddy at the Jamboree. This will be held at Douglas Park Golf Club from Monday 20th -Wednesday 22nd June. You can volunteer for either the morning or afternoon session or both!
We  especially need more on the Tuesday and Wednesday. It is always a great experience to be part of the Renfrewshire team and lunch is provided!

CAPTAIN GILLIAN KYLE WINS THE WEST VETS CHAMPIONSHIP

Many congratulations go to Captain Gillian Kyle (East Renfrewshire)  who won the West Vets Championship today for the first time at Renfrew Golf club against fellow county team member Carol Whyte (Milngavie)  in the final. 
Gillian had beaten RLCGA's Anabel Kane (Kilmacolm)  in the semi final. Anabel had played exceedingly well in the quarter finals to beat defending champion and Scottish Vets Team player Lesley Lloyd (Hayston)  in the quarter final. 

Renfrewshire's Fiona Roger (Ranfurly Castle)  won the handicap - Stewart Cup event.

ALISON MACNAB WINS WEST OF SCOTLAND GIRLS MEDAL

Many congratulations go to RLCGA's junior Alison Macnab (Ranfurly Castle) who won the West of Scotland Girls Medal at Paisley Golf Club today with a 87 (18) net 69 - 4 under the CSS which was 73
Sophie Kyle (Whitecraigs) daughter of Captain Gillian was 2nd in the bronze section with a 97 (24) net 73

RENFREWSHIRE COUNTY TEAM IS ANNOUNCED FOR JAMBOREE AT DOUGLAS PARK GOLF CLUB

With about a month to go until the 2016 Jamboree, it is with great excitement that I am announcing the Renfrewshire County Team. Hopefully we will be victorious at Douglas Park and head to the County Finals at Aboyne in September.

EILIDH BRIGGS AND JUNIOR NIAMH KINNEY WIN THE TOP AWARDS AT THE SPRING MEETING AT PAISLEY

RLCGA's Spring Meeting was played over Paisley Golf Club yesterday Monday, 16 May 2016. It was a dry but cold day and 56 ladies participated. The CSS was 74 (SSS 74).


EILIDH - SCRATCH WINNER AT PAISLEY

Despite a triple bogey 7 at the 9th hole at Paisley Golf Club yesterday County Champion Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm Golf Club) had a magnificent 3 under par 71 to play to her handicap of +3 to have a net 74 (SSS 74) . Investigations are in process to see if this is a ladies course record over the course. She was the only player to break 80.


Runner Up - Anabel Kane 

Anabel Kane (Kilmacolm) was the Scratch - 12 Handicap winner with a net 71 playing off a handicap of 11. Cathy Morton handicap 12 (Eastwood) was runner up in the 12 handicap and under with a net 73

 Niamh Kinney and Alison Macnab

The overall winner of the Spring Meeting was 16 year old Junior Niamh Kinney (Erskine)  with a net 68 playing off a handicap of 13 with another junior Alison Macnab (Ranfurly Castle) - also 16  with a net 73 off a handicap of 19 was 3rd in the 13+ handicap group
Runner up in that group was Janet Livingstone (Whitecraigs) playing off 24 who had a net 73 to beat Alison on the better inward half

MEMORIES OF RENFREWSHIRE'S PAST CAPTAIN JEAN BROWN

The funeral of Renfrewshire's Past Captain Jean Brown was held on Wednesday 11th May at Woodside Crematorium. 

Many Renfrewshire and Erskine Ladies attended the service. Wilma Beattie who had been a very good friend to Jean for over 46 years gave an excellent tribute to Jean.

DONNA AND LIZ HAVE THE BEST SCORE AGAIN IN THE COUNTY FOURSOMES AT OLD RANFURLY

The Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club hosted our County Foursomes yesterday (Wednesday, 4th May).

Although a dry day it was very cold and windy 37 couples took part.  The course was in excellent condition, however, with fast and testing greens.

The windy conditions affected the scoring but the scratch winners - Donna Jackson and Liz Stewart - posted an excellent score of 81.

Audrey MacKenzie and Lorna Boyd from East Renfrewshire  were the winners of the handicap division with an excellent net 70.5. Runners up were the other East Renfrewshire pairing of Gillian Kyle and Linda Ellery with a net 74

Unfortunately due to the overnight rain and as per the head greenkeeper the greens at Bonnyton Golf Course are flooding and therefore the West of Scotland Championship has been cancelled.
