I am back from the fabulous Scottish County Finals at Bothwell Castle in Lanarkshire and am so thrilled that it is third time lucky for Renfrewshire! We WON the COUNTY FINALS for the first time in 23 years and I want to congratulate my super team for their great effort. They all contributed to this success in their own way and I cannot thank them enough for making this old lady very happy!
The tournament was run extremely efficiently by Clare Hargan, Dawn Butchart was our starter and Fiona Farqharson and Winnifred McCallum were the official referees.....to all of these ladies we owe our thanks.
Thankyou to all the caddies and the supporters who gave up their precious time to come. It was a great help and we also appreciated very much the effort some of the other West counties made in donning some PINK!
Bothwell Castle was a great venue.....a fabulous clubhouse with cheery, helpful staff and a lovely parkland course where it was easy to spectate (and not too hilly!). We thank them for their generous hospitality.
We had some very tight matches especially on Friday with Midlothian and today with Dumfries-shire and we thank them and Angus for their sportsmanship and the friendly manner in which the ties were played. Congratulations to Midlothian for being runners up for the 2nd time in a row.
Finally ....what a team we have! They have all given their best but I would like especially to thank CLARE-MARIE CARLTON who has now played her last game for Renfrewshire.
She has been a great team member but as from tomorrow she will join the Professional Golf Association as she undertakes her 3 year training as a teaching pro. GOOD LUCK CLARE-MARIE!
Well that's it for another year. All the hard work and effort has payed off and I am sure all the RLCGA members are very proud of a wonderful County Team......THANK YOU!

PS Carol has lots more photos but is at the Scottish Vets Jamboree this week!
She will put them on the web when she gets home later this week
