VICE CAPTAIN GILLIAN KYLE LOSES AT THE 21ST HOLE IN THE WEST VETS CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL

Despite the fact that Vice Captain Gillian Kyle had jammed her finger in the car door last week she managed to play in the West Vets Championship at Renfrew Golf Club on Thursday and Friday of this week. With her finger strapped it she made it through to the Semi finals where she met Lanarkshire Count Champion Lesley Lloyd. The match went to the 21st Hole where Gillian unfortunately lost -- Lesley went on to win the Championship

RLCGA JUNIOR JAN ADAMS IS THE STAR AT RANFURLY CASTLE IN THE SPRING MEETING

39 ladies played at Ranfurly Castle today in the Spring Meeting. The conditions were tricky as there was a stiff breeze and it was damp and showery for the early players. The greens were electric which spoiled many scores!

Only 1 player broke her handicap today! Jan Adams, a very keen junior from Greenock Whinhill, who has been practising hard over the winter, scored an excellent 91 less 22 for a nett 69 - 7 under the CSS of 76. A well deserved handicap cut for Jan.

Ranfurly Castle's Carol Fell was surprised that her 86 was best scratch score of the day and she also won the Division 1 handicap prize.

Jennifer Rankine lost in the 1st round of the Scottish Ladies Championship and Denise Cowan won her 1st Round Clark Rosebowl by 1 hole in the morning and then lost 2&1 in the afternoon. Well done to you both for making the matchplay stages.
Past RLCGA County Team Member -- Iona Stephen (Wentworth) lost by 1 hole in the 2nd Round.

Many congrats go to Renfrewshire's up and coming junior star Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle) who has qualified for the matchplay stages of the Scottish Amateur Championship at Monifieth today. Good luck in the match play stages.

Four players – Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle), Nicola Robertson (Stirling), Carol Wilson (Murcar) and Margo Gardner (Linlithgow) – tied on 160 and were in a play-off for the final two of the 32 matchplay places. 
Gardner and 14-year-old Rankine both birdied the long second – all four players had pars at the first – to make it through to the knockout.  Eliminated in the play off were Carol Wilson (Murcar Links) and Nicola Robertson (Stirling)

Also many congrats go to Denise Cowan (Ranfurly Castle) who has qualified for the Clark Rosebowl (2nd Flight). She finished on 167 (84, 81)
Also a fantastic performance from Iona Stephen former RLCGA County Team member who now plays out of Wentworth - She finished tied in 4th place to go through to the Championship matchplay stages.

30 Couples played today in the qualifying round of the INTER COUNTY FOURSOMES at COCHRANE CASTLE.  It was extremely wet in the early part of the morning but conditions changed as the day went on and some bright sunshine came through.  However underfoot was very heavy but in spite of that some good scores were achieved.

WEST OF SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP RESCHEDULED

West of Scotland's Fiona Scott has received confirmation from Cawder Golf Club  for the rescheduled date of the West Championship.

It is Sunday 13 September - first tee time 12 noon.

All the players will be contacted. 

WEST OF SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP CANCELLED

The West of Scotland Championship which was due to take place today at Cawder Golf Club has been cancelled due to flooding of the Cawder Course. 
This is the second year in a row it has had to be cancelled. Last year it was cancelled due to fog.
