For those who have missed reading the Women and Golf Magazine this month - Renfrewshire County had a page written about them. Unfortunately Renfrewshire did not win the inter County Jamboree at Douglas Park but young Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle) has been playing in the European Young Masters in Switzerland   - The photo they used of the County Team was the 2015 team and here are a couple of other minor errors -- Apart from that it was nice for us to be mentioned in the magazine.

MARION STEWART WINS THROUGH TO THE COUNTY ROSEBOWL FINAL

Carol Fell (Ranfurly Castle) and Marion Stewart (Kilmacolm) played their semi final tie over Kilmacolm today in pleasant but breezy conditions.
Carol got off to a good start with a par, birdie, par, start to go 2 up.

Marion who was receiving 3 strokes  (4th, 9th and 13th) won back the 4th and the 5th to square the match. The 6th was halved and then Carol had  2 good holes to go back to 2 up and with
another stroke hole Marion won the 9th to be 1 down at the turn.

With 4 holes parred had halved in the back nine and a couple of missed putts by Carol the match was all square going down the 18th.
Marion played the 18th well and when Carol overshot the green with a rather over aggressive shot and poor chip back -- Marion was able to win on the 18th-- Many congrats Marion

In the top half of the draw a very busy Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) the leading qualifier has given a walk over to Shirley Back (Gleddoch) who now meets Captain Gillian Kyle (East Renfrewshire). The winner of this semi final tie will now play Marion in the final

ROSE BOWL RESULT - GILLIAN KYLE REAHES THE SEMI FINAL

Captain Gillian played Past-Captain Gill at Cochrane Castle GC last night in sunshine and showers.
Gill went 1 up after a birdie at the 3rd then 2 up after a net birdie at the 5th. A wayward tee shot at the 6th allowed Gillian to get 1 back but she had to wait until the 10th to square the game.  The match was all square at the 12th then Gill had to concede the 13th and Gillian won the next 2 be dormie 3. Gill was unable to capitalise on her 2nd shot at the 16th so the match ended with Gillian winning 3&2.
Poor Gill had to then go to work and Gillian came home to nurse a nasty cleg bite on her ankle!

EILIDH SECURES VITAL POINT IN EUROPEAN MATCH AGAINST THE NETHERLANDS

From the Scottish Golf Website

Singles wins for Hannah McCook and Eilidh Briggs helped Scotland’s ladies to an enthralling 3-2 win over The Netherlands in their opening match play bout in the European Team Championship Flight B.

The foursomes pairing of Jess Meek and Heather Munro gave the Scots a flyer as they cruised to a 5&3 win in the top match, before Hannah McCook secured a second point with a dramatic 19th hole victory.

The Dutch levelled the match as Connie Jaffrey and Rachael Taylor found themselves on the wrong ends of defeats, but recent University of Stirling graduate Briggs held her nerve to post a 3&2 win in the final match to give Scotland a chance to top the second flight.

RENFREWSHIRE JUNIORS WIN THE KENNEDY SALVER

The Winning RLCGA Kennedy Salver Team with Captain Gillian Kyle,
Audrey MacKenzie (Junior Secretary), June Lockhart (Vice Captain)
and President Jennifer Mack
Many congrats go to our Junior Team who won the  West of Scotland Inter-County Kennedy Salver at Loudoun Gowf Club, yesterday --
The team was :
Anna MacKenzie - East Renfrewshire
Heather Mushet - Elderslie
Niamh Kinney - Erskine
Ellie Wilkie - Greenock
Emily Crusher - Eastwood
Sophie Kyle - Whitecraigs

Yesterday at Loudoun Gowf Club our Renfrewshire girls won the Kennedy Salver for the first time since 2010. In a nail-biting finish we pipped Lanarkshire into runner-up spot by half a point.

Determined to go one better than last year's runner-up spot our girls came flying out of the blocks in the morning foursomes. Despite the threatening skies, the girls played sunshine golf, winning all three morning matches!  Heather Mushet & Ellie Wilkie won 3&2, Emily Crusher & Sophie Kyle won 4&3 and then Anna MacKenzie & Niamh Kinney won a tight but crucial match on the 18th to give the girls a commanding if not unassailable lunch-time lead.

With the winning post in their sights the girls started to get a little tight and the afternoon singles proved to be a more challenging proposition. Like the weather the golf was very mixed, but thanks to bright spells by Niamh & Sophie and Emily gaining her point, we reached a total of 6 points, which none of the other teams could match.
For the record the team totals were: Renfrewshire 6 points; Lanarkshire 5.5; Ayrshire 4; and D&A 2.5.

A great team result for the girls, founded on their excellent team foursomes play in the morning, won them the West of Scotland Inter-County competition for the first time since 2010. All of the matches were played in a great spirit and our thanks go to all the girls who competed.

Many thanks to Ayrshire for hosting the competition and to Loudoun Gowf Club both for the courtesy of their course (which was in great condition) and their hospitality. Thank you to everyone who turned up to support the girls with a special mention to Captain Gillian Kyle, Vice Captain June Lockhart and Hon. President Jennifer Mack.
