NEWS FROM RENFREWSHIRE JUNIORS

The County was very fortunate to receive a generous grant from the Golf Foundation towards the cost of coaching for our junior girls.
Two squads - a total of 23 girls - were coached by Lesley MacKay at the Playsport Centre, East Kilbride, during the spring months.
We are already seeing the benefits from these sessions as some of the girls have already reduced their handicaps.
Two girls - Alexandra Quyum (Kilmacolm) and Mairi Gray (Williamwood) - have moved from Bronze into Silver Division, both reducing down to 18.
Another 21 girls greatly enjoyed a 'Fun' day in May when Lesley showed them lots of techniques to improve their golf.

Recently the 'A' squad played a 'Friendly' match against a team from Lanarkshire and won 5 - 3. Everyone enjoyed the hospitality and we are greatly indebted to Caldwell G.C. for giving us the use of their course on a Sunday afternoon. The girls are looking forward to a return match in the Autumn.

A team of 7 girls will represent the County in the Kennedy Salver which is being played at Cawder G.C. on Monday, 21st June.
Hopefully the good weather will continue untill then and the team will play well, perhaps bringing back the Salver to Renfrewshire.
