NEWS RELEASE FROM THE SCOTTISH LADIES GOLFING ASSOCIATION
Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm), who won the SLGA Girls’ Order of Merit two years ago, has been the most consistent performer this season and heads the Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association’s Women's Order of Merit.
Following a top 20 finish in the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews on Sunday, 20-year-old Briggs has amassed 1,735 points and has pushed Scottish champion Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) into second place with 1,613 points.
St Andrews University student Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies), an impressive winner of the St Rule Trophy, has edged into the top six with 1,030 points.
Briggs’ older sister Megan, is in fourth place with 1,160 but the other four in the leading half dozen – McKechin, Clara Young, Jessica Meek and Summers - are all teenagers. Young is just 16 and the others are all 19.
