WELCOME:

Matters Arising: None

TREASURERS REPORT BY - TRACY MATHERTON (READ BY GILLIAN KYLE) - FULL REPORT WILL BE IN THE MINUTES

First of all I would like to apologise for not being at the AGM tonight – I would much rather be here rather than in Lincoln at an Accountants Conference! I would also like to thank Gillian for volunteering to read my report in my absence.

Overall we made a surplus of £948, this is a slight increase on the prior year surplus of £433.

Although our income has remained broadly similar to 2013 there are a number of significant differences.  As you will remember last year we increased our subscription to £35 and whilst this has increased our subscription income by £445 there were a number of resignations which meant the increase was not as much as we had hoped.

In 2013 we benefited from two one off payments from the SLGA which totalled £2,522. Knowing that similar amounts would not be received in 2014 it was key that we took other steps to maintain our income at 2013 levels.  The beetle drive, the triathlon and the various raffles that took place over the course of the year raised a fantastic total of £2,649.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated and donated.

As I mentioned previously the surplus has arisen due to the fact we have managed to reduce some of our costs. Our competition expenses and team costs (i.e. the jamboree and the intercounty finals) are fixed with very little room for savings.  As long as our team continue to qualify for the intercounty finals there will be very little change in these costs.  We have however made other savings for example using e-mail to save money on postage and printing, our new competition software which has saved the annual subscription cost and our auditor has kindly waived his fee.  Going forward will continue to look at ways of being more efficient.

As a committee we do appreciate the contribution of all of the members who have helped raise funds this year but we do realise that it is not something that we can ask people to do every year.  However I would like to make it clear that without any additional fundraising we will make a deficit next year as our base level of income (i.e. the subscriptions and donations) will not cover all of our costs.  Although we have enough money in the bank to allow us to this next year it is obviously not a position which would be sustainable going forward.  In the longer term we will need to give some serious thought as to how we increase our income to allow us to continue to operate as we do now.

SECRETARY'S REPORT AGM 2014

Another successful year for the county, the weather on the whole has been wonderful, however as usual we had a problem in April getting the medal played. We have made some changes for next year, Gillian will explain them later. The courses as you will see from the list are all confirmed and I think we have a very good programme for you next year.

The Jamboree was held here at Haggs in June, with another fine win for Renfrewshire. The intercounty finals were held at Hilton Park, I had the pleasure of caddying there and we were just a wee bit unlucky to come 2nd, however a very enjoyable weekend.

Our membership numbers are slightly down at 214, with 176 playing members so if you know of anyone interested, print them off a form and encourage them to join.

Thanks as usual to Captain Gill, vice captain Gillian, and everyone on the committee for their help over the year. I had hoped this was my last secretarys report, but so far no takers, it really isn't too honerous a task being secretary, so if you would like to take over, see me later!!

JUNIOR CONVENOR REPORT - BY JANETTE MCCARTNEY

RLCGA Coaching
With most of the girls at Development Centre's this year there was not much time for any Renfrewshire coaching however we did have a pizza night with the seniors which was great fun, short and long game sessions and food, great combination with Karyn Burns at the Glasgow Golf Centre.
There was also some team bonding that the girls from MCGA all enjoyed as they helped hand out the many prizes at the Beetle Drive in February and on June 1st Seniors & Juniors played at Cochrane Castle in warm up matches for the season ahead.
County Triathlon
In March this year 4 of the junior girls, Lauren, Jan, Laura & Niamh helped to raise money for the County at the Lagoon Centre. They cycled, ran, walked and cross trained for the morning in a great team building event.
Development Centre’s
This year there were 17 girls at 3 Development Centre’s, MCGA, Playsport and World of Golf so it was very difficult to keep track of what everyone was up to as the training sessions are all different times, midweek and weekends throughout the winter starting in October. It seems that DC’s are here to stay but it remains to be seen as to whether or not they are good for girls golf at county level.
Kennedy Salver Hamilton Golf Club
After 3 late call offs it was a real struggle to field a team of 7 girls for this annual west inter county event. Unfortunately we came 4th out of the 4 teams with only 1 point gained in the singles. There were a lot of very close games and many went all the way to 18 but I think the mixture of having to play girls who had never even met each other in the foursomes before and the lack of match play experience for the girls was too much on the day. Renfrewshire are hosts next year at Elderslie so we can come back as D & A did from last place in 2013 to winning in 2014 so good luck to the girls for
next year.
Alison Macnab - Campbell Clock Winner

Campbell Clock Whitecraigs
After a very poor entry we ended up with the biggest field of 15 girls for the 18 hole competition. The par 3 was won by Beth Rogan from Paisley, The 8 hole Stableford winner was Kirsty Macdonald from Whitecraigs.

The Campbell Clock Winner was Alison Macnab from Kilmacolm with 39 points and a better inward half from Charlotte McCluskey Whitecraigs

Junior Girls Championship
Jennifer Rankine - 2014 RLCGA Junior Champion

The finalist this year were Jennifer Rankine and Niamh Kinney and the final was played over Cochrane Castle on Monday 29th September, just after the very inspiring Ryder Cup.

The girls were very closely matched until Jennifer hit a winning streak, stopped only by a very impressive birdie from Niamh at the 14th to continue the game. --

Well done to both girls.

Scottish Golf Academy News
The Scottish Golf Academy is the national development programme for Scotland’s talented young golfers run by the SLGA & SGU. This Winter we have 3 girls attending the SGA, Jennifer Rankine from Haggs Castle who started the season at 12 and is now down to 6, Jennifer is in 2nd year and will be off to Spain for Winter training in February. Niamh Kinney from Erskine and Ellie Wilkie from Greenock who are both in first year. Niamh started the year at 14 and is down to 13 and Ellie at 34 and is now 19. We wish them all every success for a great future in golf.
Worth a Mention
Some special achievements I would like to mention are Heather Mushet from Elderslie who has got her handicap down to 13 from 18 at the beginning of the season.
Charlotte McCluskey from Whitecraigs won the Glasgow Schools Tournament at Milngavie this year. Niamh Kinney won her way through to the ladies championship final at Erskine only to be beaten at the 19th on one of the worst days of the year. Jan Adams from Whinhill was runner up in the WSGGA Bronze Championship at Troon Portland.

Audrey Mackenzie

This was my last year as Junior Secretary for the County and it has been very interesting and rewarding watching the girls grow and develop in the golfing world over the last 3 years.

I wish every success to Audrey Mackenzie who is taking over and good luck to all the girls for the future and I will continue to watch your progress.

Many thanks for all for support given over the last 3 years and in particular to Jinty Rodgers, Sandra Littlejohn, Maureen Woodhead, Gillian McGinlay & Gillian Kyle.
