FINAL
Gillian Kyle (East Renfrewshire) bt Donna Jackson
(Cochrane Castle) 2 & 1
Gillian,
playing in her first County Final, was soon 2 up after 3. Donna won the 5th to
get 1 back but Gillian continued her winning streak and was 3 up at the
turn. She won the 11th to go 4 ahead but
lost the 14th, Donna then won the 16th with a birdie 4. It was now dormie
2. The 17th was halved and so it was a
fine win for Gillian by 2 & 1.
Some
excellent golf has been played by Gillian all week having won the West Vets
meeting on Monday. She is now
representing Scotland in the Scottish Vets match v Ireland at Dunbar this
week-end.
Donna
didn't manage to achieve her 12th Championship win but she was a very worthy
runner-up.
The Championship Trophy and the Peggy Clark Trophy were
presented to the winners by Ralston Club Captain Graham Clark.

MATCH PLAY RESULTS AT RALSTON
The players were greeted at Ralston today with brilliant
blue skies and most of the morning matches were won comfortably. However it was a different story in the
afternoon.
First match out was Gillian Kyle against Carol
MacNally. Gillian was soon 3 down to
Carol but kept fighting till she managed to square the match at the 18th. A half at the 19th and Gillian went on to win with a par at the 20th.
Denise Cowan then went out against Carol Fell (who says
she doesn't play 36 holes!). Her superior length proved to be to her advantage
and a tiring Carol and caddy Freda (combined ages 143!!!) finally gave in at
the 16th to lose 4 & 2.
11 times Champion Donna Jackson played well to win 3
& 2 over Carol Whyte who at times still seemed to have jetlag after her recent
trans-atlantic flight.
14 year old Jennifer Rankine, after a convincing win over
Beth Paterson in the morning round, then took on Captain Gillian McGinley. Gillian says Jennifer played really well and
she went down 6 & 5.
