Clare-Marie Carlton does well in round 1 of the Scottish Championships

The southwesterly half-gale - or maybe it was a full-gale - whipping in off the Solway Firth wreaked havoc in the first qualifying round of the Scottish women's amateur championship over the Southerness links this morning.
Bothwell Castle's Pamela Prestwell who won the West of Scotland Championship over Prestwick Golf Club at the beginning of the month was the leader in the clubhouse after today's round. Clare- Marie Carlton had an 80 representing Renfrewshire with Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm)and Alyson McKechin (Elderslie)both on 84 and Eilidh Briggs on 85
